Managing blood sugar levels is essential for maintaining steady energy. Foods with a high glycemic load cause rapid spikes and crashes in blood sugar. Pairing carbohydrates with protein can slow the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream, providing a more sustained energy release.

The Power of Light Exposure

Morning sunlight can help regulate your circadian rhythm, synchronizing your internal clock with the natural day-night cycle. Light exposure in the morning influences the production of serotonin, a precursor to melatonin, which can affect both sleep quality and energy levels.

Strategic Caffeine Use

Andrew Huberman suggests delaying your first cup of coffee by 90 minutes after waking up. This delay allows the natural cortisol response to do its job, optimizing both natural energy levels and the effectiveness of caffeine when consumed later. Research in the Journal of Sleep Research supports this, showing that aligning caffeine consumption with your body's circadian timing can enhance its positive effects while minimizing negative impacts on sleep.
